JEREMY CARSON MOUTHS OFF ABOUT CREATIVITY IN SOCIAL MEDIA // ISSUE #3
TIMELINE FOR PAGES IS HERE. DON’T PANIC.
facebook has finally launched timeline for pages and there is way to much to address in one little section, so just sit tight and don’t freak out. a special edition is coming! with that in mind, this is a short issue. don’t hate me.

THE SOCIAL CONSCIENCE // issue #2
THIS ISSUE: INTEREST NETWORKS / RETRO RETURNS / OBAMA HANGOUT / TIMELINE FOR BRANDS
A SOCIAL NETWORK BASED ON INTERESTS…UM…
running with the concept of “following interests, not people” (cue the intro for chime.in), news aggregator wavii decided to skip the painful step of making people create content. instead, it simply aggregates news from google, presenting it in a...

WHAT IS THIS AND WHY SHOULD I CARE?
simply put, this is a creative’s take on the world of social media through a few choice weekly articles. you don’t have to care, but it doesn’t hurt to keep abreast about the more under-the-radar thoughts about social media.
FAIR WARNING: this is all incredibly biased. i’ll be offering my opinion, so if you feel the need to fight...

gmail "app" blows
shame on you google. it’s not a real app, just the web app in a wrapper. just as slow and not enough for me to switch from my native iOS mail app.

igniting my life
first off, for the foreseeable future, i’ll be setting the world on fire at ignited in el segundo as an art director. i was hired full-time about a month or so ago, but it’s been pretty dang hectic here, and i haven’t gotten around to posting about it. but, more importantly, i’m getting hitched! if you want to see how it happened, check it out…we’re famous!...

ad-a-day #25 anti-joke.com
being in advertising, we’re always meant to twist some bit of truth, manipulating it in some way to gather attention. usually, it’s about being unexpected and clever. however, there’s usually not a whole lot of truth left in the end. there’s something to be said about how unexpected bluntness and honesty is. antijoke @ http://www.anti-joke.com is hilarious to me, but there...

ad-a-day #24 TED (something a little different)
did you wake up about ten years ago and think, “it’s the year 2000; where are the rocketpacks and flying cars?” well, guess what? it’s been over a decade and there are more problems than ever, but seemingly more solutions out there. in today’s social, economic, and technological climate, there’s this pressure to keep moving forward, and really, we must, in...

ad-a-day #23 the dirty
do you remember those kids back in high school that would trash talk everyone? oh, you would never have done anything like that, of course, but those other people did. well, in the age of the internet, that hasn’t gone away. in fact, it’s probably worse than ever. and nobody is safe. but, in all this chaos, one site has become a type of vigilante in this endeavor: hating on those that...

ad-a-day #22 national enquirer
stumbling through the internets, looking for an ad-a-day, you come across a lot of “questionable” sources. sure, not everyone’s online blog is as legitimate as adaday.org, but at some point, there should be a level of trust and reliability. well, this is no new argument. in the hey day of the tabloids, one rag stood above the rest…the National Enquirer. now, it’s...

ad-a-day #21 snorg tees
we’ve all seen people wearing them: the uber-hip-totally-plugged-into-the-mainline-of-pop-culture t-shirts. there are a bunch of these companies, but near the top of the list is SnortTees at http://www.snorgtees.com. i have to admit, i think most of them are pretty damn funny, and they are subtly clever. the best thing i like about these shirts are their permanence. sure, they may go out of...

ad-a-day #20 national geographic channel
well, it’s been quite a while since the last ad-a-day (nearly a year), and a lot has been going on. but, as i’ve found out, jan/feb is kind of a slow time in the advertising world, so i figured i’d start ad-a-day back up. and the first one out of the gates is…not too shabby. the national geographic channel has been the subject of quite a few amazing ad campaigns. the...

my ads got accepted into CMYK issue #48
hey everyone, been busy at ogilvy, but i wanted to let you know that my ads got accepted into the fall 2010 issue of cmyk (#48). didn’t submit as much, since they increased entry fees from about $3 an entry to $7.50 an entry, but still put in about 12 pieces. oddly enough, after 5 times of trying to get into cmyk (some in design, some in advertising) with works that i spent months...

let me fill in the blanks
okay, so i keep saying i will pick it back up, and i swear i will…soon! ad-a-day is NOT DEAD, so stop emailing me! hah, no really, you can keep emailing me, and thanks for the support. i figured i should give you an excuse…i mean a reason why i’m lagging behind! HONG KONG & CWS my team was one of the two selected for the concept on our project we worked on for CWS in hong...

ad-a-day’s long overdue update
just got back from a business/pleasure trip to hong kong and japan on saturday. the hong kong segment involved working on a potentially live project with the advertising/branding agency 8 partnership in collaboration with CWS, a nepal-focused charity, regarding breaking into the american market. then did some sightseeing and went to japan for a little r&r. just wanted to let everyone know that...

ad-a-day update!
okay, so to my few million followers (give or take a few million), i wanted to just let everyone know that ad-a-day IS NOT DEAD! i will pick it back up in about a week. i am art directing multiple campaigns for an advertising competition called The One Show…heard of it? anyway, it’s pretty intensive and i haven’t had a chance to pick the ad-a-day up in a while. gimme a week,...

ad-a-day #19 nova's the elegant universe
the universe is big. deep, i know. but there’s lots of stuff in it. stuff we just don’t understand. but somehow, people on a public broadcasting station have figured it out. go to http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/elegant/ and you’ll find yourself face to face with PBS’s NOVA’s “The Elegant Universe,” a miniseries on “string theory”, one of the...

ad-a-day #18 wisdom bits
in my off time i do a little singing/songwriting, so i know how hard it is to come up with great lines. i have yet to have one of those musical epiphanies, but there are so many amazing songwriters out there to look up to. the site http://jontylercore.com/wisdom has a good little collection of amazing lines from such writers, showcasing them as “bits of wisdom”. thanks jon tyler, you...

ad-a-day #17 sparknotes
remember high school and all those great book reports? me neither. mostly because i got through as many of those projects by resorting to my favorite online abridged book resource, http://www.sparknotes.com. it’s like reading, but not really. sparknotes romliet, by william shakespeare - sparknotes crimishment, by fedor dostoevski - sparknotes wareace, by leo tolstoy - sparknotes
